breeding cal kings

buddygrout Mar 25, 2005 07:50 PM

I finally found a male for my three year old 50/50 cal king.
I picked up a pair at the Melbourne show last weekend now I have 2 females and a male, the extra female is more brown yellow. The male is about a ft longer than my female. I put them together and watched closely. There was some jerky movement then they started biting each other. It seemed a get away bite, not a love bite.
I'm going to feed them both heavily then put them back together.
I also picked up an adult pair of gray banded kings. If all goes well this season I'll have corns, cal kings, gray banded and scarlet king hatchlings in july.

I on the other hand will only be producing 4 different ringneck sub-species, loads of melanistic eastern garter snakes, rough earth snakes, blue garters het for melanistic and if I'm lucky, pine woods snakes.

I'm just asking cause it sounded like you bought the pair came home and tried to breed. Just asking cause you never know what the new snake has. Paul
