Another photo of the girls.

Still more of the girls.

Last one.

Please note they were together only for the photos. Keeping snakes together in a cage is never a good idea (except for breeding or a few quick photos).

First off let me say that those are some nice looking snakes! I just wanted to know what kind of substrate that was? Im looking for something like that my snake always gets under her newspaper and you never see her, i dont know why ive got two nice hiding spots in there for her. Is that stuff you've got re-usable? Thanks!

I have been using Lizard Liners. There are a few companies making exactly the same thing. They work OK, but some of my snakes still get under them. I vacuumed the waste off the liner before I hand wash them in a sink. I rinse them three times after soaking them in the soapy water. I also use unscented soap to clean them.

Snakes like to hide and just because we give them what we think are good hides, sometimes snakes have other ideas. So just because I use a liner, I still have to clean the bottom of their cages every week. Of course, many of my snakes like to place deposits in their water bowls.

Thanks i got some for easter along with a nice cave-like hide she really likes and a nice water bowl. The texture of it is pretty rough, have you ever witnessed adverse effects on the ventral side of the snake? Thanks!

I've kept snakes on that type of substrate before. I'm not the biggest fan of it because of the mess and bacteria build-up in the substrate. It's just generally a bit harder to clean. Not worth the money, IMO. But otherwise, no...I have not seen any adverse effects on the ventral side of my snakes. Snakes crawl over all kinds of rough stuff in the wild with no adverse effects.

I thought the same thing just figured id ask though. I love it thus far! She cant get under it so she cant defecate onto the plastic.

PS-How oftendo full grown snake crap? My yearling does it like 3 times per feeding.

Those snakes look great. But if I were you, I would give them a smaller, more tight-fitting hide for their own security and peace of mind.

You are right about snakes and their hides. These snakes were placed in a cage with that hide just for the photos. If they had a real hide in the tank, I never would have gotten the shots.
