Gecko for a ten gallon tank?

Tugi Mar 26, 2005 01:21 AM

I have a ten or 15 gallon screen top tall tank that I just moved my crestie out of. Are there any geckos that would do well in a tank of this size as an adult? Maybe some kind of phelsuma? Or any other ideas of something to get?

I don't agree that a golden would "do well" in a cage this small. Assuming a 15 gallon tall tank, that would make the dimensions about 20x10x18 inches high, far too small for a golden, IMO.
I think a small Phelsuma would be appropriate, perhaps P. laticauda or P. quadriocellata, for example. Just about any Hemidactylus, as well. You could also build a cool fake stone wall along the back, and keep one or two Tarentola mauritanica.

a leopard gecko would be fine in that size tank. They don't need as much room as some of the other geckos'

A single lined or gold dust day gecko would do fine. If you want more than one gecko in there then house geckos would be your best bet.
