Does anyone sell these?

rich_123 Jul 09, 2003 02:42 PM

I'm looking for plastic drawer storage containers (preferably clear) that are big enough to house BTS's. Basically, ones that are 2'X 3'. Or you can let me know if anyone sells rack systems that can hold containers big enough to house BTS's. I wanna be able to stack my skink's enclosures on top of each other to save room. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks to all those who reply.

I dont think id like to live in a dark drawer without lights or a view during the rest of my life.

I've thought around that problem of not providing light while using a drawer. I can easily mount a light source along one of the walls of the enclosure.

Please do not make so cynical comments. If you have a suggestion please state it in an approriate matter. That is just immautre to say such a thing.,, I checked sveral websites and they do not appear to make rack systems that large, but www.herpcages.com had the lowest rpices that i found. If you need it for anythign else.

What's so immature and cynical about talking about mounting light fixtures if there are plastic containers big enough for BTS? I was just making a simple comment and you try to blow it up into something that it's not. I guess I should've just mentioned that since the original post, I had decided to just construct my own enclosures instead of trying to use plastic containers and racks. I looked but didn't find any containers of appropriate size. I only said what I did earlier because I didn't want it to seem like I wanted the BTS to be in the dark without any light.

Thanks for mentioning the site but I just don't need enclosures for reptiles with smaller enclosure needs. Try not to take this response as an attack or even a defense on my part, I'm just trying to let you know that I'm not a bad guy though it may have seemed like it.

I even kept reading my response to flavia over and over again to try and figure out what might have offended you. lol. I thought since you replyed to my reply to flavia, I thought you were talking to me.

The response from Herper15 made me think that maybe I did choose the wrong words. I deeply appologize to you Flavia if I offended you. I guess I do need to choose my words more wisely in the future.

Just figured I'd get your attention better with a subject with your name on it. So you could read the other post.

Flavia Guimaraes Jul 12, 2003 01:29 PM

You didnt offend me, no need to apologize!lol!
I was frightened with the idea of being obliged to spend my whole life inside a drawer with no lights or ventilation. If the drawers are closed the lights you will put outside will be of no use.If the drawers are opened the first drawer will not allow the drawers that are below to get any lights or ventilation either.BTS like to climb. To stop them from climbing and falling down the drawers you will need to keep them closed. So no ventilation and the skinks will be obliged to live in the dark. What a life!

Let me clarify this a little more, Flavia. Of course I would provide ventilation for my BTS if I used a rack system, I would drill a lot of holes in the containers. And when I was talking about mounting the lights, I was saying that I would mount a fluorescent light fixture on the inside wall of each enclosure. But you don't need to worry about the me using a rack system at all now since I've decided to just construct my own enclosures. I just wanted to fully explain to you what the rack system would've been like. I would never have dreamed of not providing light or ventilation and would even have strived for height to be used for climbing as well. But since I can't find any plastic containers big enough for BTS, I've totally scratched the idea of a rack system and am now going to build large, spacious enclosures. So you don't need to worry. Once again, I tried not to sound offensive, I just wanted to make everything clear.

Flavia Guimaraes Jul 12, 2003 08:46 PM

Your never sounded offensive! You always sounded like a very good person, someone that is worried with the well being of the BTS that are under his care!!
By the way, once i had the same problem with my STAR tortoises(lack of space) and i thought to build a vertical enclosure for them, too.Thats why i know the problems that a vertical enclosure with drawers can cause!lol!
