Sub-adult leo color darkening

tundrastomper Mar 26, 2005 03:38 PM

Hi all - I'm a newbie so I will try to keep this short.

I have a sub adult female leo whose color has darkened and she has become lethargic over the past couple days. She has her own 20L tank with 3 hides (1 humid), a piece of driftwood, a couple rocks, dishes of water, calcium and meal worms. She is fed 5-7 crix per night dusted with calcium and leo gecko dust. Heat range is low 70's at night to mid 80's daytime. Humidity seems to be stuck around 40-45%. The colors on her back darkened a couple days ago and today she has been very lethargic.

Any ideas or opinions will be vastly appreciated.

Thanks

Place about 20 crickets in there and see how many your leo eats in 10 minutes then remove the rest that are not eaten. Your leo could proabaly eat more than 6-7 crix a day.

try feeding it every other day. they will tend to get bored with their food if it is always there.

all I can think of, but I'm not the leading expert on leos. if you've read the previous post you might see that.

and color darkening I think is a normal thing. Your leo will lose all that prety pattern and it will be more replaced with a spotted blotchy pattern. They look their prettiest when they are young. Unless you got a color morph then I'm wrong.

If you would like, I can try to send you a pic of her. I'm not sure what I have here, I think it might possibly be a CT becuz there is orange on her tail, but you would probably be able to tell me more than I could you. If you would like, send me your email addy and I will send a pic. Thanks again - Frank
