I'd say a leo could stay in the car for hours, if your car was warm. I mostly order leos, and they're shipped overnight and still arrive healthy. The leos at Petco probably aren't very healthy. I wouldn't recommend buying from a place like that.

Are you going to be getting one from Petco? How much are they? You can find real cheap ones through breeders including shipping for $50 and up. As for the car ride, one of mine was in his box for an hour, but kept out of the sun, so I don't see a problem with it.

DO NOT BUY FROM PETCO OR PETSMART OR WAHT EVER MART

jag Jul 09, 2003 03:46 PM

Let me tell ya. Just as a personal experince and my own opinon. I will NEVER EVER buy any animals from a petstore again. My first leo I got from Petco (Ziggy) had coccidia when I got her (didnt know it then). She died due to it. Then me boyfriend had bought me an Albino one (Ally)from Petsmart. Turned out that she was sick to, with what we will never know. She died in her sleep Monday night. It is very hard to buy an animal that seems healthy as many are at petstores. They seem healthy, but are not. Leos have a habit of not showing sickness until it is to late. I had to find that out the hard way. Take everyones advice here and not get one through ANY petstore. You will regret it later if you do. Spring for shipping through classifieds or dealers. If you are looking for a certain type let us know, I will also be willing to help you find one you like cheap if you wont get one form a pet store.

For their sake and yours,
Alicia
