what about the orange??? (Long)

wednes Mar 26, 2005 05:28 PM

i have a few questions.

These two iguanana's ive taken in have been through alot. Since they were in very poor condition

And with my first iggy i never had much problems since i got him when he was little and untill he died... always was a happy, healthy and sweet iggy to me

One igg is constantly Orange!! What does it mean. I think he's angry or sad? does anyone know precisely??

he also keeps on standing against the cage, waving at me...urging to get out...when i let him out he climbs on me...i get totally scratched...and then he runs around the room.

(i cant tell you the correct cage sizes because i only know of centimeter, but i can tell you my cages are both of adult iggy approved size!

I am also batteling mites since i got the iggy's in.
Eacht time it seems to be gone...it comes back..it's driving me MAD!!

Next week there will be ANother vet visit, for the tail of Arwen is turning black. I never thought it took this long a time to get them back on track. Poor thingies..but i will not give it up!!!

See the picture of the poor thing. Notice his missing spikes

Thanks for the reply, i thought we've had the mating season behing us :-
Ahhh, well i am flattered so that explains alot..he even makes avances to my cat,i'm sure she wont like that!!!

About the mites.
I've done all the things possible to do in the netherlands (all the good stuff is illegal here.

I tried spraying the cages (and also some spots in my house to makes sure ive got everything) with anti flea spray. This worked great the first time, but it came back. And seem to be immune for it. I tried a harder weapon, clean cage with bleach, and then desinfection and then pure water again.

Some herpist adviced to use mot(th)balls (dont know if its the correct translation)also no succes, and ofcourse poison to the igg, so i was really carefull with this method!

Ive baded the iggy's at the same thime.
i did more, but i cant remeber at the moment...

It seems helpless

I suppose you keep your 2 igs together, right? Probably both are males and bullying each other when you are not around. The one that is begging you to take him out from the cage is really scared. He is afraid of the other and he is asking you for help.Thats why when you allow him to go out he climbs you like crazy. He is scared to death!

His orange color means he is fighting for the alpha male position. If you dont separate your igs they will start hurting each other. You will see blood in their cages very soon. They can even kill each other if you insist on keeping both together!Have you seen 2 adult male iguanas fighting? The first thing they do is to try to cut each others throat!Yes, i saw my 2 igs fighting and thanks God i arrived on time to stop them from killing each other!

Iguanas that are under stress and always scared are very difficult almost impossible to tame.Dont forget that each time you force your scared and orange iguana to enter his cage and to face his opponent he hates you!

Your igs are bigs now they have already reached sexual maturity you have to seaparate them asap!!!
