H2O 4 SCOOTER! Thanks for the reply Gene, this is what decided on!

The tub in front is a cement trough 60 inches long. (it is actually 2 tubs stacked together to be extra tuff) They were $50. each.

The one in back is Scooters old horse trough!

What a difference! They actually make one that is a little wider (more square) that I can upgrade to if I need to. It only takes 4 more buckets to fill than the old one...lol

So far I can't see any problems, I'll let you know how it works out
Have a great holiday everyone!

Hi Holly,

Good luck with the cement tubs - I've had no problems with mine for many years now. Well, except for changing the water, I had to drill holes in the bottom and attach flexible tubes to them for drains. I just throw the tube up over the height of the water when I want to keep water in it.

Scooter and the tristis look good, Scooters a little *ahem* thick, but seems healthy.
For water changes, go to a tropical fish store and look for a water change system made by Python Products. You hook it up to your sink and use it to vacuum, then refill the large water container. It sometimes gets clogged with crap and needs to be back flushed, but I've used one for years and couldn't be happier with it.

Yeah, I know he is pudgy, he is too comfortable for his own good....lol It's been alternating windy and rainy here, as soon as we have a nice day we are out for some REAL exercise. The park we used to live near had the coolest climbing trees, the one close to here is no nearly as fun. I need to scout some good climbing and basking areas for this summer.

I can't do anything but the bucket system to fill and empty the tub right now. The house we are in is not owned by us, all the faucets and shower fixtures are a fancy, decorative, PAIN IN THE BUTT design, can't hook anything up to them. I can't put a drain in the tub either, the house owner said no way. Oh well, he does love the new tub though! besides, carrying all those buckets helps me keep in good shape
CYA! -H-
