Croaking determines sex?

AlbinoPhoenix Mar 26, 2005 06:45 PM

Ok, earlier this week I found 5 Spring Peepers and I only found them because I followed the shrieking "PEEEEEEEP". I want to find a female so I can understand the natural behaviors behind the frogs since I aspire to be a Herpetologist. I know the males have a dark spot under their chin and the females are larger, but I just want to make sure if the peeping determines the sex, because if it does, I've got a lot of work to do if I want to find a female.

But, if you catch a croaking frog (to attract a female), you should find females near.

when breeding, as is probably the case here, only the males call. this is to attract the females.

so u probably will have a hard time finding a female. sucks huh
