Ummm...what species of day gecko? If it's less than about 6 months old you will have trouble sexing it. If an adult, the preanal pores are generally much more noticeable on males than on females. If you see large calcium sacs on the sides of the head, you've got a female.

Good plants to use are some tall Sansevieria (snake plant), bromeliads, orchids, or Pothos. You will also want to put some bamboo or pvc tubes in there for them to climb on/in.

Of course you know they require either UV lighting or very careful vitamin supplementation, and in any event high levels of full spectrum lighting during the day, right?

I dont know what species it is. It is green with red spots thats all. She has had him since november. He is about 7 inches from head to tail. I am now thinking its a male because i dont see any sacks on the side of his head. I have a uva/uvb i use for day time. His cage is at 84-88 all the time because he is in my snake room. Some times it cools to 80. I am about to move him to a huge cage that i willhave live plants planted on the floor and hanging.

You may want to add a basking light with a temp of 90-95F. It sounds like you may have a Giant Day Gecko but a pic would help.

Green with red spots...that covers about half the different Phelsuma species. Adult Giant Day Geckos (P. madagascariensis grandis) will get about 12" total length as adults. The calcium sacs are not necessarily very obvious, especially if it's still a juvenile, which we still don't know.

I would suggest posting on the Phelsuma sub-forum, someone there can probably give you more definitive answers.
