well, i love to keep an eye on all my gex cuz im always trying to figure out their behaviors. anyway, recently my biggest female has been showing quite a personality. so she usually lays a clutch a month, she just laid her 3rd clutch last night. anyway, i let her do her thing at night, then the next morning i dig the eggs up and put them in a lil tupperware where they do their thing till they hatch. anyhow, the past two clutches i have dug up from her, i usually do it first thing in the morning while shes going to sleep, but of course she wakes up. weird thing is, she obviously shows me that she knows im digging up her eggs, because she's gotten the habit of coming over to show me her concern as i look for them. she starts licking at my hand a lot too, but never gets the least bit aggressive. i find it real weird that an animal that really doesnt seem to have any maternal/parental care for the young actually shows some kind of concern over it. anyone else notice this?
and even more, she actually seemed possessive of her man the other night as he started trying to mate with the other female in the enclosure. the male was trying to mount the other female, when the big female im talking about came up to him, got in his face and started licking him. next thing i knew, he was getting off of the original female and switching over to the other! am i just seeing things, or has anyone else noticed anything like this as well??!!
