Haitian Rainbow Boas?

Uncloudy Mar 27, 2005 06:12 AM

I noticed this add in Kingsnake.com classifieds of some WC Haitian Rainbow Boas and they looked unlike any other rainbow boa I've seen. Can someone give me information on these Haitian Rainbow Boas. Are they really rainbow boas?

They're Epicrates striatus striatus (hope I got the Latin right) so they're in the same Genus as Brazilians. I've worked with them before and unlike Brazilians, they musk. They are good looking snakes, but the one I worked with was a real stinker and a sporadic feeder. Of course, back in the 80's it was most likely wild caught, so that's to be expected. I found a care sheet for them by searching google-

Thank you Lora. I wasn't aware of this Haitian Rainbow Boa, they are interesting but seem much more a lot harder for husbandry than a BRB.

Uncloudy,
...They are only rarely called Haitian Rainbow Boas. Haitian Boa is a more commonly used name for them. They are different species (though same genus) as the animals we commonly call Rainbow Boas.
