I am station in Okinawa Japan, I have kept tortoises for many years I have seven Russian tortoises back home with family. I was wondering if I where to purchase a tortoise and when I left here if I would be able to legally bring it back to the States. I don’t like the ideal of shipping reptiles especially over seas so if I where even allowed to bring it back are tortoises allowed on plains, or would that kind of trip stress a tortoise out too much. I am not going to purchase a tortoise unless I know for sure that I could take it back, because I don’t want to have just to have one. I also want to purchase it because of its poor living conditions but I don’t want to just keep it for a few years and then just sell it to who knows who when I leave. Thanks for your time.
