When will my female realize she's not sitting on eggs anymore and be ready to eat again?

RyanT Mar 27, 2005 11:19 AM

I tried to feed my female last night since she laid her eggs Friday. I gave her about 36 hours after she laid. When I opened her box though, she was still coiled right where she was with her clutch and still being aggressive when I touched her. She had no interest in eating and just stayed coiled like she's still got her clutch in there. It was kinda sad. I'm gonna have to show her when they hatch that they're alright. J/K. But anyway, when will she come back to reality and want to eat again?

You will need to clean her tub out really well. Also wash the female off to get the scent of the eggs off her. Good Luck

Did you completely wash, disinfect, and add all new substrate to her bin?

...remove the bedding from around that area...this is usually enough...sometimes a 30-60 minutes bath in warm water will also help...sjm

Clean her really well, nice warm soapy bath. Disinfect her tub, new substrate and then try to feed her.

LOL - Yeah, probably best to wash her down first with soap then soak her!

I had absolutely no idea that was necessary. Even though I read this board everyday. I wasn't much of a ball fan since I was about 10. I skipped over the whole morph revolution and everything and just got back into them about a year ago when I got my pair through trades and didn't even intend to keep them. Now, I'm really into them. I can't wait to breed again. Eggs will change the way you feel I guess. I've kept snakes since I was 5 but they were always pet store animals until I discovered this website while slacking off at work about 3 and a half years ago. Since then, my collection has completely changed and gotten so much better with access to the best animals available and I've learned so much. This is such an amazing resource. I feel like I have a whole new understanding in the last 2 days after experiencing breeding for the first time. I've been asking for help for the last year or so on a few different forums to get started with breeding. I hope now that I can speak from experience, I can start to contribute from the other end now. Anyway, thanks alot. Guess I'm off to erase her memory of giving birth now and start getting her ready to go again next year. Ryan.
