So my juvenile leopard gecko is not acting quite right and I am really starting to get worried. She has been laying in her water dish at the cold end of her tank for the last few days. I have not noticed her eat in a few days and she seems really weak. Her skin is not discolored at all, no dulling that I can tell. She shows no signs of impaction. She is just very lethargic. The only environment change is a slight light change. She normally sleeps on top of a log under a red night light. It puts off perfect heat for her, but last week the bulb blew and I had to replace it with a different basking light. The heat is the same but I wonder if the placement of light and spectrum of light is bothering her. My male gecko does not seem to be bothered by this. Anyone have any ideas or ever experienced this before? Times are tight, if I can avoid a vet bill I'd like to but I need to make a decision in the next 24 hours. I am getting worried about her.
THANKS!!!!!

the wattage on the light is still the same? Hmm, are the leos the same age. You might want to separate them just in case one is sick. I am not sure what might be wrong. She sleeps ontop of the log? Does she hide at all? you might want to check www.drgecko.com

sorry am not as helpful as u wish.

Is she losing weight?

she slept with the male gecko for a while(in the large enclosure), but about six months ago they got into a spat and she wont have anything to do with him. She has another enclosure to go into but she doesn't like it go. She has slept on the log and in the tree for about 6 months now. I think she is claustrophobic
But wattage is maybe 5-10 watts difference, nothing dramatic. The only thing I can think of is the other light was a red nocturnal night light. I left it own 24 hours a day. They where fine with this, they where actually more active and feed better with this set up. The light I am currently using is a nocturnal basking light. It doesn't have the red glow my other light had. It is more of a yellowish red hue.
I am going to night and tracking down a replacement bulb and get her some mill worms. She does look like she has lost weight. She is normally very stocky. It looks like her arms have thinned out some.
I went to Drgecko but it didnt give me a idea of what the problem could be.

hmm.. I know my leos loved the red light, compared to any others including the blue one. What are the temps in the cage? Humidy and so forth. Is she still going to the restroom ok?
Is she eating normal? You might want to try some butterworms, silkworms, or wax worms, just to help get some appetite going. Make sure everything in the cage is good like the temp, and it is clean.

hmm a change o light should not be effecting her this much. How much does she weigh, how old is she, what are the temps. And also how much was she normaly eating. From what I can she in the pic she des look a little thin. Also how do her stools look,or they firm or runny and discolored?

from what I have seen her stools are good. Her temp stays between 80 and 90. She is about 6 inches long, rather small. She eats well, her and the male (that is the male gecko in the pic, the female is on the log in the left hand corner) eat about 40 crickets a week. She is a very active hunter eating about 3-5 a day. She last ate on Saturday (that I saw anyway). This just developed over the last three days. I have her isolated from the big tank now so I can keep a better eye on her stools and eating habits. But honestly I don’t think it will make too much of a difference. She is not looking good at all. I spoke to my vet but he thinks that there is not too much he can do. So I am have added vitamin powder to her water and rubbed some on her mouth and nose hoping she will lick it off. I don’t know what else to do but wait it out. I did notice that her underbelly looks dark purplish. Like there may be a problem internally. This just sucks so bad.. she is such a sweet gecko... I really dont think she is going to mnake it through the night...
