Spitters at shows?

Philly_nr Mar 27, 2005 11:47 AM

Hello folks. I'm not a how owner but I'm curious to get your take of the possible danger of having spitters for sale at shows. I've noticed that deli cups have air holes around the deli cup. From what I'm told, spitters have awesome targetting abilities with respect to spitting venom. Based on this observation, I'm curious to know if it's possible for a spitter to spit their venom through a hole in the deli cup into the eyes of an unsuspecting person? I've been told of a spitter who got its owner in the eyes through air holes in at cage at her facility.

Thanks in advance.

At the hot shows I've vended at and had spitters present, either with me or on other people's tables, the rule was that they had to be inside a container inside another container to prevent the exact situation you just described. I've never had a spitter try to spit through deli holes or vents in a cage or anything, but it's certainly possible! What I would do with my spitters at shows would be to use two differently-sized deli containers. The spitter would go into the smaller one, which would go inside the larger one. The holes didn't line up, being below them, so they had no direct line of sight.
