Mouth gaping while basking?

nez02 Mar 27, 2005 02:53 PM

I noticed today that sometimes while my cham is under his basking light he will gape his mouth for a short while. I was wondering if this is a way for them to regulate there temp while basking? Have any of you seen your cham do this? He did it for the first time today and then again a couple of hours later. But its only when hes under his basking light, and for short periods. Other than that he seems to be doing great. He eats about 8-10 crickets a day and is very active.

Thanks for the help
Nez

Hi Nez,

perfectly normal and you are right - it is their way of heat regulation. Glad he is doing well...got pics?
