Update on my new sav....

kevinBD1 Mar 27, 2005 04:37 PM

She is starting to bask regularly instead of hiding all of the time, and she is digging burrows everywhere. There are some crickets in her cage, but i havent seen her go after them. I threw a hopper in there a couple of days ago. She didnt go after it when i threw it in there, and i spotted it in and around the burrow, but i havent seen it today, i dont know if it is in her burrow still or if she ate it, but if it is in there it doesnt seem to be bothering her, maybe she ate it and thats why she is needing to bask more, anyways i was just going to let you all know that i am seeing considerable improvement.

Good going Kevin. That's the fun with working with these critters. And I do mean work. Hahaha
I like trying different things to see how my criters react.
Maybe one day I will be happy with the way I set them up.
As far as throwing live mice in a cage, I don't do it, unless it is a rat pup. I stick with frozen/thawed when feeding rodents and quail.
Have you tried roaches? My savs always went right after roaches and all but ignored crickets when they got around 18 inches.
I drive over to Montevallo and get buckets of roaches from Bert.
