2 1/2 yrs old, 13 pds...

does that sound about right/common for her age, 13 pds? She eats every two weeks as many jumbo rats as she'll take.

No not for a female retic, I'ld expect a female that age to be atleast 30lbs

I thought she did, and should, weigh more as well. I just took her to the vet on Saturday for what we think is a URI, but he didn't mention anything about her weight being on the low end. She sure does feel like more than 13 pds when I handle her.

Every two weeks she gets as many large/jumbo rats as she'll eat.

Should I maybe feed every week? I've tried that and she'll just let it sit there, and I fresh kill so it can, and has in the past, been a big waste.

He did have some URI problems in the past and she also had an endoscopy done on her around a year ago. Could that be it as well, or atleast add to it?

The way I believe she got the URI this time is my current living situation. I live on-site @ a dog resort and the living quarters are small to say the least and the floors are concrete, so her enclosure (6ft Vision)was on the floor towards the window. I've since lifted it on 2x4's. She has a Pro-Products radiant heat panel, can't remember which one, but it's the one they recommended for the enclosure size and species I told them. I've also added a CHE, but I may go with just a reg. heat lamp because i've heard they dry the humidity up pretty quickly.

So she's on Fortaz shots for now and if she doesn't clear up w/ the shots and the extra heat we're going to get some more blood work done.

I was wondering if you, or anybody else may have some suggestions or feedback. I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks a ton,

Ray

How large is she, length wise. A 2 1/2 yr old female should definately have a bit of length and weight on her, and be eating rabbits at that time.

Retics have very fast matabolisims. Should eat every 5-7 days until about 3 y.o. Unless it is a dwarf it is very small. My tiger retic female was 10 ft. eating 2-3 lb. rabbits weekly. Increase feeding.

That's what i'm going to do, increase her food. But, as I said earlier, i've tried this approach before and she'll either lay on it or just completely ignore it. I've tried covering her feeding tank for privacy and everything.

I'll keep those that would like to know posted.
