Some finds from the last week or so...

crimsonking Mar 28, 2005 01:11 PM

... My sons and I herped for a few hours in a spot we know to hold e. indigos but found none this time. We did however find a dandy e.coral snake along with the obligatory e.fence lizards, se.5 lined skinks, ground skinks, green anoles, s.ringnecks and a few others.
Here's a couple shots of the coral we guessed at (easily)over 30".

full body shot

Se. 5-lined skink

an e. fence lizard showing his colors

The next day:
A big eastern coachwhip that kissed me on the cheek:}while two friends looked on in disbelief.

and a nice female corn snake found under a small board.

Can't wait for the weekend!

These were not found at those parks. The coral was found in Hernando and the coachwhip and corn were in Hillsborough. You could always email when you're down.

I didn't measure it and it had a very slightly stubbed tail, but I would have to guess it at over 9'. The one at the top of the page, found in the exact same location, was over 6' as well but not as heavy as the one pictured here.

Mark, a nine footer? Shane

crimsonking Mar 30, 2005 04:38 PM

...you know, I typed that three times to edit the content, and knew I had wrongly put a 9. Why I didn't catch it when I edited I don't know!
Obviously, 6' (SIX) is the correct number here.
How embarrassing.
Thanks for pointing out my goof.
