Leopard Lizard..

This guy was neat.Right after I took this pic,he just took off.I went back to the bush he was basking in about 10 minutes later,and as soon as I got close enouhg for a decent pic,he went right into hole. I really like these lizards,always nice to see them up close.

Awesome--look at those hind legs--solid muscle! Crotaphytids are always impressive.

Where about did you observe that lizard? I photographed one individual in the great basin near Garnerville Nevada 2 years ago and have been itching to go back ever since. Very nice species. The one I photographed allowed us to hold it and look at it for about 15 minutes then it posed on the sand near some wood for a good 10 minutes longer before casually just walking away.

That's a very nice Leopard. There seems to be a never ending supply here where I live but I never get tired of seeing them perched up on a berm. With all that I've seen and caught, this female has got to be the largest I've come across. Just a day or two after the pic was taken, she started her turning red on her sides so I took her out a released her.
