Feeding

dwcraig Mar 28, 2005 04:15 PM

Ok im gonna try to feed my new ball but have a small problem...The pre-killed my girlfriend picked up are pinkies and im not sure if it will be enough for him. He is about 2 1/2 feet long and six months old. I am sure one will not be enough so will it be ok to give him two or more and then at the next feeding go up to the next size mice?

By pinkies are you refering to pinkie mice or rats? If it's rats you shouldn't have any problems, feed him two or three if he'll take them. If it's pinkie mice they'll probably be too small for him to go after. Hope this helps!

At that size and age, you should be feeding it full size mice. It can take them easily.

ok so i followed the info on the f/k pinkies and but spike in his bag and left him alone for well over an hour..I saw the bag was moving a good deal so i thought he was going to town...i untie the bag and alow him to come out and then i pull it out of his cage and there inside are still the two pinkies...Should i just drop this idea and feed him live mice?

Are they rats or mice? As I previously posted if they are pinkie mice, chances are they are too small for him to show interest. Best way to feed prekilled is to warm up to at least 98 degrees and wiggle in front of him. Once they become experienced at eating p/k they may eat it off the floor but some will still need to take it off prongs. If he's used to eating live, then you'll have to work with him.
