I would have to say that the most comprehensive book on monitor lizards to date, is Eric Pianka and Dennis King's 'Varanoid Lizards of the World'. This book is chock full of species accounts, natural history, evolutionary history, paleontology, ecology, and ethology(probably missing a few 'ologies' off the top of my head..lol). The book offers excellent photographs, locality data... It is a very comprehensive book.

At 500 pages of monitor lizard splendor, I think that this book is a must have for any varanophile.. I'm sure you can buy it off amazon.com or barnesandnoble.com.. While it's around 80 bucks or so, I think it is money well spent, as like I said, there has yet to be any book as comprehensive as this one to date.

It has a really good section on V. salvadorii, among others, that is better than any other account or publication that I've seen on them..

Good luck, happy readings....

Cheers,

Bob
