lighting question

hello everyone. i was just going through the gallery and i saw someone with a powersun bulb on top of there cage and a repti-glo 5.0 on the side. is that to much uv for a cham? i was thinking of doing the same. my jackson is in a 3x2x2 cage. thanks matt

Doesn't hurt to have 2 sources of UVB, but I'm not familiar with the Powersun bulb...probably someone else here can help you out on that.

No artificial UV light will produce "too much" UVB, but your bigger problem for a jax will be too much heat. The light may simply be too hot for your jax to tolerate spending much time under it, he will avoid it, and not get the benefit of the UV it produces. If you do a lot of spraying, fogging, etc. you also have to be very careful not to get water droplet on the bulb. It will explode.

I now only use the MVB in conjunction with the reptisun when Luna is gravid. The 100w kept blowing out and I ended up with a 160w which is way too hot unless it is a good distance (16-18" from the basking spot.
