Hello, I am in the process of planing my corn snakes new vivarium. Kali is around 5.5' long, quite stocky and still growing! I am thinking of buying a large water tank, the type that is often used in the roof of a house to supply the water for the heating system etc. Now the largest I have found so far have an inside size of around 42" x 16"/18" and around 24" high. I would love to find a larger size but this is pletty of room for her, for now at least. I plan to use it upright, with the opening at the top. I will make a metal section to cover around 1/8th of the opening with a hole for a spot light with a mess guard and dome to direct heat downwards. This will supply both the heat and light during the day and I will also include a small non-light emiting heat source to heat it just above room temp at night. The rest of the opening will be a lid made from a clear plastic to allow in some light/viewing of the snake. There of course will be vents installed, both high and low through-out. PVC tubs will be used to allow for climbing/excerise. The only concern I have is that this will not allow as much light in as a glass vivarium. Will this be suitable for a snake? I don't care much about how it is going to look, I just want it to be easy to maintain and give the snake every thing it needs. Thank you for taking the time to read my post. - Kieran
