Go to Home Depot or Lowes and buy textured floor tiles there $1.00 each which is cheaper than any other substrate.....and no lizard litter is just as bad as repti bark so just go with the tiles or paper towels like everyone has told you repeatidly...

I use the tiles sold at Home Depot or other stores for tiling floors...I don't know how much they are but it probably wouldn't cost too much since you only need a few to use in a tank.

A lot of times Home Depot has discontinued tiles for less than a dollar a piece.
Tile is a perfect substrate for aesthetics and keeping clean. I have to give thanks to many here for recommending it as a good option for a substrate. You can easily remove waste, there is no impaction risk and it looks good. If you use a 20 long tank (12x30), you use two 12x12's and either a half, or do like I did and find two 5.875x5.85's. Fill between with clean sand. Under the tile, I used a thin base of about 1/8" to 1/4" sand to protect the glass bottom of the terrarium. The UTH (Cobra 10-20 size) works perfectly without a rheostat and keeps the warm side at 90-91 deg. Cool side is at 80 deg. This is the easiest set-up that I could have hoped for. I've only had my leos for about two months and they are happy and gaining in size and weight very well. RR
should I get ceramic tile?
