male adf

aloren26 Mar 29, 2005 04:19 PM

I have had my adf about a month now and always assumed it was a female cause that is what the pet store told me. A few nights ago he started his 'singing' so now I know it's a male. I was told that he is singing cause he needs a mate. Is this true? If I keep him alone, will he be ok? I would like to keep him alone if possible, he is in a 5 gallon tank and I don't have the room on my desk for a bigger one. If I don't get him a mate, will he stop eating or anything? Thanks for any advice!

Your little guy should be just fine by himself. I have yet to hear my male frogs sing but i have heard that it also means that they are happy. He should be fine without a mate and should continue eating fine. I wouldn't worry about him. My males have lived alone before and never ahd a problem, they just had more food for themselves.

Hope this helps
