Does anyone anywhere know anything about ringers?!?!

Bulldawger Jul 09, 2003 05:33 PM

Please read my post below about the "neck Ringer". It's back there a bit as I posted it yesterday, but I really would like to know more about it.
Please, and thank you,

They come in every year.. More rare than the regular vent area ringers. Most of the times, if they have a neck ring, they have the vent ring also.. I have seen triple ringers too.. Ringers are produced in captivity, but not regularly and hasnt been shown 100% genetic, more of a random thing.. Some have produced ringers from pieds, some from normals and even some from breeding ringers together, but it still seems random.. They are common as imports, I had over 20 in 2000 babies.. More than striped, high gold and yellows, etc.. Hope this helps.. WHere do you work??

As I said in my other post, out of respect for my employer, I'd rather not divulge that informaton. But we are a large-scale producer of various popular geckos, colubrids, dragons, etc. and a supplier to pet stores across America, and internationally. We are even starting a breeding program with some of our balls to reduce the number we have to import every year.

And thank you for your info. Do you have any idea of how much this little guy might go for?

If you can guess, I won't deny it (where I work that is)!

Sorry I didnt see the other post until I already posted!!! They are worth what someone will pay for it.. Ball morphs, even small time ones are selling for good money these days.. No more than 500 and probably no more than 200, but you never know.. You may find someone with one like it or someone who really wants it.. Try!! I dont mean to be rude but I doubt the compnay you work for imp[orts 30,000 balls per year.. Maybe 10,000.. Strictly and LA reptiles are the largest.. One of those?? Anyway, lets see pictures of some of the morphs, out of 30,000 you have to have seen more than just a ghost or two and some ringers!!!

Actually, we get most of our pythons through Strictly Reptiles, but no I don't work there. And I am not embellishing! In my room alone (and there are three) I have 11,913 balls! All individually housed in Rubbermaid shoeboxes. It is my job to make sure that all of the snakes in my room are well cared for, well-fed, and clean. I love my job! This year we only imported 23,000 balls, because we have 7000 held back from the 2002's. The best part was unpacking them and setting them up! Anywhere from 1,000 to 2,500 would come in at a time, and getting to spend all day sorting through baby balls was heaven. I'm sure you'd agree.

As far as good morphs, Strictly sorts through them before we get them so they get all the good stuff. The only reason the ghosts made it here is because they were "in the blue" (opaque). I didn't even notice them until after they had shed! We also have a good faith agreement that we share the profit value of any morphs that slip by them. Two years ago an axanthic showed up in one of the shipments, and I think that got sent back. I am not all that high-up on the food chain there, so the good stuff goes to the highest bidder (like the ghosts) but they're not so picky with the generic morphs.
Most of what we have is blah, but I have found plenty of bandeds, granites, blushing balls, red-backs, hi-yellows, hi-golds, and hi-whites, as well as three nice reduced pattern balls. There are plenty of others that are something special but I don't know what exactly.

SO you buy nearly the entire ghana quota of balls at 40,000 ranched and 7000 wild caught..
