savannah monitor versus argentine black and white tegu

rbowen000 Mar 29, 2005 07:12 PM

Can someone that has experience with both, tell me comparisons on care, size, and especially temperament?

I'd recommed a tegu for personal reasons. they eat a wider variety of food. And they get about the same size. tegus are tropical and savahhnas are more desserty animals.

They don't live in a desert so why would you call them "desserty"? They live in grassland areas. A tegu and monitor are two totally differnet things. My best advice is to research both, figure out what you want out of the animal and what you can provide (ex. size, lifespan, food, etc) and try to match what you want and are able to provide with the corisponding animal.

I have a Sav and I love him to death, don't think he feels the same about me, but he still tolerates me handling him.
