Sexing, again... P

aliceinwl Mar 29, 2005 10:30 PM

Well, I had pretty much decided that the baby is girl and I'd even narrowed down my list of girl names and had gotten used to referring to the baby as "she".

This weekend I decided to take "her" out for a bit. I think the pores "popped". Here's body pic from tonight and here's a pic of the pores. The top pore pic is what they looked like Dec 31 and the bottom is what they looked like tonight. Can I say "he" with 100% yet?

Thanks!

Yes, "he?" is a redback. In the wild, most chucks this size are pretty easy to sex, nice big pores etc. But, from what I've read here, they're a lot older than cb chucks of the same size. If you look at the pore pics, they have definately gotten a lot bigger and now have noticeable plugs. With most lizards, this is a clear sign of male. I just want to get a second opinion.

I would say 100% male. By the way he looks really good. Tom

Hey Alice,

glad that you got a male after all. Hope you weren't too set on a moniker for the little mug. Anyway, it reminds me of a Three Toed Box Turtle I have. It was sold to me, (I was like 10) as a female, and thus named (perhaps the most unoriginal name ever) Shelley. Well, Shelley did well and the other males tried to mate with "her" so I figured nothing of it. About 9 years after I bought the blasted turtle, I pick "her" up for a weight check, and land o goshen, her eyes were flame red. Big deal, right? Well then she started trying to mate with my other female. So Shelldon as he is now called continues to do well, No kids yet though. Maybe this year.....heh. Thought I'd share. Congrats on the 100% Male though. ood stuff. Talk to you soon.

regards,
-Phil
