hello everyone,

I just recently started reading up on poison dart frogs and thought they were rather interesting. I am normally a keeper of crocodilians and large constrictors, but I thought something smaller and attractive would be my next thing to look into.

I live in Columbus, Ohio. Does anyone know of any places/breeders that may sell PDF's around here? If not, then what is a reliable, online breeder/seller of these frogs that I can trust are not wild caught and healthy?

Thanks alot for your time!!

Stan

Patrick Nabors at Saurian.net is very reliable, as is Black Jungle.com. There are others, as well, but these are the only two I have had personal experience with--all good. Both are sponsers here.

Both ship overnight UPS, so you pay more for the shipping, of course. Patrick used to ship Airborne until we had some trouble with this the past year, when a shipment got misrouted to both me and some of his other customers, with some sad losses, which Patrick took the loss on. Both he and Black Jungle guarantee live delivery of healthy frogs. I guess this happened again to him, so he switched. So far, the UPS has been excellent--truly overnight, although I live in the boonies of Idaho, off any driect route, and he is in Missouri, and I believe Black Jungle is even further away. There was the same excellent, personal service from Black Jungle to here.

I'm sorry I can't personally vouch for some of the others that have excellent reputations, such as Qualitive Captives, Pumilio.com, etc., but everyone who has used them seems to be happy with them, as well.

You can also come out to IAD at the end of April in Maryland and pick out frogs from a number of breeders. To the ones mentioned above I would also add Mike Shromm of the Frog Pond.

Do you attend the All-Ohio Reptile Show here in Columbus? There is a breeder there who has consistently nice frogs for sale, for reasonable prices. I have never personally bought frogs from him, but have talked to him a number of times. You may want to check it out!
