Hey all,

Had my first litter of snakes few weeks back, and have found a couple interested buyers. But who should I use to ship my snakes?

I talked to UPS and they said they DON'T ship snakes? Who do you all use? Really appreciate the help!!

i have used both shipper and had no problems... all the snakes that i have recieved are stamped live snake on the box...

it is a pain in the butt to find the #, but u need to contact either departments exotic shipment people...
they say on the website they they dont ship these animals but if you pay attention to the things they say they will lead u to the # u call....... i will try to find the #'s when i get home for FedEx... i dont know if i have the # for UPS...

Those #'s would be great....don't have experience with being the shipper! But have to take the leap someday right? hehe.

I stopped in one of those "UPS" stores yesterday and they said NO, to live animals? I was under the assumption they did.....is it only certain UPS stores? On the web site they say they do ship animals...but NO SNAKES? Help...hehe.

correct me if I am wrong but I have recieved animals via Fedex....I am confused as hell....how do I get my snakes shipped?

you have to contact the exotics department and tell them why your shipping... i have the # at home and i will post it tonight for FedEx...
all the boxes i have recieved were stamped LIVE SNAKE....

but if your want to go an alternative route... you could lie and say they are fish and they will be handled with care and shipped on time...

your choice

Well I would rather not lie...but I called live animal department and they said they only ship zoo to zoo and horses...so I dont know....if you can possible give me the other # it would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks for all the help.

Ok, now I am getting a little angery...hehe...so no one seems to ship "reptiles" so do I just lie about what I am shipping? DHL, Fedex, UPS all said NO....have not tried Delta Dash because isn't that only airport to airport? I would like to ship to the customers door. Please someone tell me what I am doing wrong here!! Should I lie? Do you all lie? I dont want to get into big trouble?!?!? But I have recieve reptiles via UPS, and Fedex.....why do they say no to me?

I have shipped through UPS, Airborne Express, and even USPS with no problems. The key is don't mention the word snake. Usually you can get away with saying live reptile and leave it at that. Hope this helps Vinnie

My friend and I just recently opened an account through Fedex, to ship Boas, and GTP's - and they know that. We had to sign a waiver saying that if something should happen, they won't be held responsible. We also had to send a "test box" to have it approved. The whole thing took about 2 weeks with no hassles, we were very happy.
I'm receiving a pair of Boas tomorrow via UPS from someone who knowingly does so. I've received snakes from him before, and it says so on the box. I tried to get an account thru them before, but got brushed aside - I needed to be more persistant.

With Fedex, you nedd to call there 1-800 number, and tell them that you need to talk to an account executive. Good Luck

It may take a while to jump thru their hoops, this should have been done before the babies arrived, I was in your shoes last year and know the frustration. I ended up using DHL last year. I'd go in 10 minutes before they'd close, and they just wanted to get me in&out - they didn't ask, I didn't tell.

It helped that I had pics of the delivery guy showing up at my door with the box saying "Live Reptiles" on it. Refusing an account to me would be discriminating.

If you ship illegally through Fedex, and something happens (package lost or destroyed), they are more than likely not going to be responsible, right?

but if you work out the account to ship live legally, and something happens, they are still not responsible. right?

what is the benefit?
Other than the shipper maybe having the piece of mind believing he is doing it in a more legal fashion...

because you may think that having a big LIVE REPTILE label will cause them to handle it more carefully...
9 out of 10 times, they will handle it more careLESSly, because they are scared and just kick the box around or don't touch it, hoping tomorrows driver would deliver the 'deadly reptile' .. see what I mean?

This is my opinion/experience..
I would love to hear yours, or anyone elses..
