another one lost due to substrate!

po Mar 30, 2005 09:37 AM

i adoped out one othe the leos i hatched out a few years ago because he had an eye defect and i didnt want to breed him, the girl i gave him to put him on a bark type sand, then when she had a baby, passed him onto someone else, this person after a week passed him back to me, with 3 layers of shed stuck on his feet and he was realllly thin, i pulled him off that crap and tried my best, but the impaction was to bad, he died last week, just another story for the argument against sand and other fine things they can eat and get killed by!!

my fave is paper towels with a nice moist hide!

hope you all have a better week then i am!

What is a "bark type sand"? There are a lot of issues with this, not just substrate. why were there "layers" of stuck shed? This gecko was NOT even taken care of AT ALL.

Okay it looks like someone's trying to start an arguement. Since I'm not interested in waisting my time with them, I'm hoping this will put a stop to it before it starts. If the gecko was starved and had nothing else to eat other than sand of course its going to get impacted its called common sense. I don't mean to sound rude but do you actually screen the people you pass your animals off to, to make sure that they're going to take proper care of it or do you just hand them off to people you meet on the street? That poor little gecko was handed off three different times. How would you feel if someone passed you around to three different homes where people treated you like crap? I'm furious at the fact that you act like its not a big deal and that sand is what killed it which isn't the case. The fact that it had shed caked on its feet is a big indicator that it wasn't properly cared for in the first place and if the shed was that bad I'm surprised that the poor little gecko had feet at all. Get some COMMON SENSE and screen the people you give pets to before you end up killing another animal.
