The amount of dirt you showed in your cage is not even a start for suitable nesting. They normally burrow very deep.

I think we need to clarify a burrow is, a hole where the monitor can dissappear into. Maybe to understand it, a normal burrow is three or four times the length of the monitor. When they nest, they make it longer and deeper. So in captivity the best we can do, is still minimum.

In this picture, the monitor is using a popup, thats a hole opened from the bottom. What that means is, there must be enough suitable burrowing to go down completely and then surface back up.

This is a major part of albigs lifes. This is what they know.

When you look at the size of your monitor, you can imagine how much dirt is needed. Even to meet the minimum requirements. Good Luck F
