Prey size? picture

Hey everyone,

Just thought I'd show off my boy, Rocket is between 6 and 7 mos old and about 20-22" and just coming into his normal colors.

Also... He's been getting 2 pinkies a week for about a month now, should I move him up to small fuzzies or stay on pinkies but move up to three a week? I don't want to underfeed him but I don't want him regurging either. Is his size normal for a corn that age? (I bought him on Nov 15 2004 and was told at the time he was between 9-12 wks old)

For reference, his head is about a centimeter across, perhaps a bit more, and the widest part of his body maybe 1.5 - 1.75 cm across. The pipe he's curled around in the picture is 1" top to bottom and 3/4" across.

Thanks guys!

The general rule is that you can feed him a mouse that's no bigger around than the width of the snake at its largest section. Mine is about that size, and I feed him one 'hopper' mouse (the baby mouse that has just turned fuzzy) a week. Unfortunately though, most pet stores don't carry mice that size, either live or frozen, so unless you breed your own mice or have someone close by that does it might be easier to just stay with the pinkies until he gets larger.

"a baby mouse that has just turned fuzzy" is not a Hopper - it's a fuzzy! A hopper is a good deal bigger than fuzzies and they are mobile and about to open their eyes at that point.

I would absolutely bump your snake up to one or two fuzzies a week if she will accept. Don't be alarmed if it looks big I'm sure it can easily handle and keep it down. Regurging is pretty rare outside of "extreme" meals (snake eat snake same size), given the snake is not roughed up after eating for a day or so. Very pretty corn and awesome pic too!
