Large dent on egg

unf Mar 30, 2005 10:59 PM

I looked at my eggs today and one of the eggs has a large dent on it now. They are due to hatch around April 18 - 22. This is my first clutch and I think its to soon for them to dent in like this. Is this normal or is my humidity low???? The egg that dented was kind of on top of the others and was barely in the vermiculite. I built the vermiculite up around it and added some water. Any advise is very welcome. Thanks Steve

I would think you are OK, My eggs have dented in as well. Be careful adding water. Usually eggs will dent some 2 weeks before they hatch. My dented in at around 25-27 day into incubation and my incubator us well above 90%. As long as you can still see blood veins when you candle the eggs I would leave them alone. Thanks David

Is that egg closest to the heat source? It could be drying out faster. If none of the other eggs are collapsing then it could be drying out. If the rest or at least a couple more are collapsing, it could be getting close to "fun" time.

Do you have any way to measure the humidity? Personally, I look for condensation on my incubator windows.
