Fogger for my monitor?

SubSpeciesBoy Jul 09, 2003 06:56 PM

Hey! I was just wondering if a fogger would help the humidity level in my cage. Also, I saw a humidifier at petco that uses an aquarium air pump, and some suction cups and some tubes to up the humidity. The humidity is the only portion of the cage that I havent mastered yet. Any opinnions will be appreciated. Sorry for such a stupid question.

If you are using an aquarium they are hard to keep moist as they are designed for fish not lizards. Cover the screen top with plexiglas with small holes in it. Dirt holds moisture great.

I guess my real question is, Will it hurt the overall effect of the cage if I have a fogger in their to look cool? I know I am going to get killed for this one, "If you want to look cool, buy a cat" or something like that...
Thanks for your help

Too much humidity can cause health problems. And monitors are curious as well as destructive.

For my Becarri's, I needed to increase the humidity in their enclosure, so I went to the drug store and bought a household humidifier, in which the output is at the top of the device. I then took a 3" diameter pvc pipe and extended it up to the top of the enclosure, where an elbow is fitted with screen mesh covering the opening. At first, I was hesitant, because I didn't think the fog would climb as high as my enclosure, but upon hooking it up, I find that it works excellent, even five feet above the actual humidifier. The humidifier cost about thirty dollars at walgreens, it ended up being the best thirty dollars I've spent on my becarri, they love the increased humidity. Along with adding moisture, it also turns my densely foliaged enclosure into a tropical cloud forest. HOpe this is of some help to you. Good Luck- email me for some pics of my setup.
