Breeding size/age

Dan-binderup Mar 31, 2005 06:43 AM

Hey everyone.

I was wondering what size is a good size for breeding my panther female she is about nine month now. I am asking is because I have heard that females shouldn´t go to long before being introduced to a male. (because of the risk of her getting eggbound)
best regards

Personally I waited until my female was a little over a year old. I just wanted her to be of prime condition before the stresses of producing/laying eggs. She did not start developing eggs until after her first mating period. My second female is 2 years old and I still have not mated her yet and she still hasn't produced infertile clutches. I am trying to time it right so I don't have too many eggs incubating at the same time. I would recommend a year if this is your first experience with breeding....just my opinion.
