I see that there are different widths on this tape and I am not sure which to buy for a 20 gallon long tank for a Leopard Gecko and a 40 gallon breeder tank for my rat snake.

Also I would imagine I should use a thermostat which these devices as well. Any suggestions?

Does flexwatt care that the room temps are? I am replacing ZooMeds and they are wacky all over the place especially as my temps fluctuate in my house with the ever changing spring temps here. Perhaps I will end up moving the animals to the basement where the temps are a little more stable but we're rarely down there to enjoy anything we would put there.

I have a hatchling rack with flexwatt, but I used heat pads in my other enclosures. I got ultratherm pads from the bean farm and love them. I don't use a thermostat with them like I do with the flexwatt and they never seem to get too hot on the surface, you just have to make sure the heat can dissipate (mine are mounted on the sides of the enclosures so there's no insulation). From what I understand, they work the same way that flexwatt does and they're very affordable. This URL should take you to them.

Since just two tanks why not buy reg under tank heat pads not zoo med ofcourse but the rest are good.
I noticed lots here no fan of zoo meds lol after reading this forum and lots of posts in cage forum.
I use T-REX brand type forgot the name since its under my tank lol but several yrs going and love it.
