I got these a couple of weeks ago at the Melbourne Fl show.
The guy I got them from had them together. I had them together until today. They don't seem as cannibalistic as cal kings. Has anyone ever had a gray banded king eat its mate? I was afraid to keep them together too long.

Out of about 20 or so adults that I have put together for breeding only once did one try to eat another one. She was a particularly aggressive feeder the kind that jumps out of the cage when you open it. They were together only a few minutes before she decided to try and eat him. It was only one time though and this pair bred several other times without incident. So it can happen but I would say it is rare.

Out of about 10 adult alterna that I have kept for breeding, 1 female (also an extremely aggressive feeder that once actually fell out of its cage while striking, hit the carpeted floor and bit onto the carpet and would not let go for 10 minutes) strangled and killed one of my favorite males (a wc from 16mi N.of Sanderson) while together for breeding. The breeding was successful, so I am assuming that after mating, the female decided she was hungry and killed the male. The strange thing is that she did not eat him. I just think the female was pure evil!

About a year and a half I posted that question here to. I was thinking of doing it.
I didnt but will say this I received a few emails and pics of two being housed together not 1 problem UNLESS its a Female and a Male.
From what I gather a female and a male could equal a single fat female the best combo seemed to be 2 females.
One guy had 2 sets of 2 females for 12 years. Ofcourse nothing is written in stone. I still would like to do it but since I have a male and again 2 females seemed to be best combo opted not to.
This is just what I heard from a few . I forgot who these breeders were hope they add input to this.

The one with orange ate 4 pinkie rats today, the other one ate nothing, but did eat a pinkie rat last week. I hope it is not going to be a picky eater.

Nice looking pair. Love the alterna phase you have. My next purchase no doubt.
