breeding boas... hows my aim??

SNAKEMAN12345 Mar 31, 2005 05:02 PM

okay ive been doing alot of research and reading. this is what im planning on doing, correct me if im wrong in any of my steps. im in florida by the way and all my breedings will be boas, im planning on a hetXhet, albinoXhet, albino het stripeXhet stripe albino and dh sunglowXalbino. they are going to be in 4' long, 2' deep and 2' high cages. im planning on RHP that are going to keep the cages high 80's on the hot side and low 80's on the cold side and both side dropping a few degrees at night. feeding will be done every 10 days and at the beginning of november i will feed the female a little more and i will do it once a week. at the beginning of january i will be putting the male in with the female and starting to drop the temp down to the low 80's on the hot side and around 75 on the cool side and dropping it a few degrees at night (this will be done over a 10 day period). i will feed the female only every 15 days in the next few months. i will keep the temps cool for around 2 1/2 months then bring them back up to normal within a few weeks. let me know how im looking so far. from what i have been reading that should be right on for the most part so let me know how my temps, feeding, months and all the rest is! thanks and please correct anything that is wrong!

Look'n good; I personally have never needed to cool my boas for breeding. My only note for concern is feeding while the temps have dropped. While this is a tropical species and you arn't going to drop temps very much, in general feeding is stopped when outside of the preferred optimal temperature range.

Does anyone else have anything to add to this?
