Hes shedding again.

nez02 Mar 31, 2005 08:45 PM

Well my cham. seems do be doing good. Hes shedding for the second time since I have had him. So it seems like he sheds every two weeks. Is this about normal or is there no real pattern they follow when they are young?

Thanks for the help
Nez

Hi Nez,

they shed often as babies - means he is growing so that is a good sign!

Im still absolutly amazed at how fast they grow. My friend stopped by today and swears he has doubled in size since we brought him home. I will try to get some pics up soon.

yup - they do! This is crucial time for good nutrition and calcium. Their bones are growing and they need calcium to keep up, so as not to get MBD or other problmes. I can't recall - did you get your dusting squared away? No time to re-read all the posts! lol!

Im still not exactly sure. Im dusting daily with the herp-care and it has seemed to be working ok.

Nez, You really need to use a calcium dust and a vitamin dust. To the best of my knowledge there is no product that satisfies both. Gutloading your crickets in a healthy way will help get some nutrients, but when he is young he really needs both supplements. Is thsi herp-care vitamin or calcium?

Hi Nez,

I would be concerend about the proper amount of calcium plus the fact that all are combined. There is some breakdown when calcium is mixed with vitamins. Carlton (and others) could give you specifics on this. I would suggest beginning a new thread (we are pretty far down here! lol!) asking specifically about this product with the link. I am just concerned about him not getting enough calcium during these crucial months of growing.
