My new Haitians

jakec Mar 31, 2005 11:01 PM

I'm pretty new to this forum. I used to post here a few years ago, but I built a house and sold all my snakes. I'm just starting to slowly get back into it. I just bought two gorgeous Haitians from Jay of Exotic Jungle. I love them!! lots of reds. Anyway, here are abunch of pics of them. I attached one to the post, but the rest are at the link. Let me know what you think of the cage I built. It's 100% HDPE, so it is easy to clean, and I don't have to worry about any of the problems associated with wood. It's a little ellaborate, but I like it. The fogger is on a timer, and the snakes love it, they get real active when it is on, and have actually been showing a lot of breeding activity. Temps range from almost 90 at the top to 70 at the bottom during the day. Humidity goes up to about 80% when the fogger is on, and then drops to about 50%.

Later,
Jake

I used to love the Insular Epicrates. Especially Cubans and Haitians. They're very beautiful and different. I lost interest in keeping them but still appreciate them alot. Good luck with them. They can be a little picky sometimes. And their fondness of musking isn't real pleasant either.

The Cubans are my absolute favorites, but the Haitians are a close second. These are incredibly tame, so the musking isn't an issue, unless I really push it. It had to inspect the males mouth yesterday, and was really impressed that he hadn't musked me, until I looked at my shirt!! I can pick them up normally without any problems, though. I cannot believe how much they like to climb!!
