Got my first FWC today!!!

LAF Apr 01, 2005 06:13 AM

Picked up a nice 5' adult from an importer in Birmigham (UK) today. Not sure who they use for supply but the source sheet was referenced W. Africa so I assume it was C.B. out there (or the colelctor was so drunk he forgot what continent he was in!). I'm really impressed though. She's a beautiful animal, much more alert than I expected and, curiously, she seems quite happy to hood up with her head raised (only ever seen them spread hood with head down before) and she can look straight at me while doing so! Seriously impressive and she has real atitude (although she's been in a pillowcase half the morning so probably not in best of moods and still seems uninclined to strike). Gonna let her get settled in for a couple of days then see how she feeds. Just had to share her with you though, she's stunning.

Congrats...A fine looking snake. I just picked up a 4'CB female. With any luck, next year will bring romance between her and my 6' male.

The more observant among you may have noticed the piccy of the FWC looks a little odd... the picture is of a true water cobra (Boulengirina) and the description was also meant to point you in that direction. Thanks to the people who emailed me to warn me of my imminent demise should I get bitten ;o) But rest assured, it was merely an April 1st thing!

Cheers, Lee!

I almost flipped and noticed right away and started to email you or call the freaking police right away thinking if you handled it you perhaps would not be around anymore. I saw a show on them and they were in this deep lake and swam amoung the rocks and caves like sea snakes and have such a strong venom to quickly kill their fish prey. Be very careful.

Oh, and that was a good April's Fool. I pulled one myself on another forum and it really got a lot of people, although you really got my heart beating faster than I wished when I saw the pic.
