I dont have geckos yet but love your set up. I was going to ask a question and think you can help me.
I am not sure of which Gecko a golden, marbled or skunk. My question is can the incandescent spotlight fixture be layed directly on the scrren top or do I risk gecko getting toes burnt?
I was thinking of like a 60 to 75 watt red bulb depending on temp.
Thanks

Yes, you can lay the fixture on the screen but the bulb can't be longer than the reflector. You may also want to try a 30watt bulb first depending on how far your basking spot is from the bulb.

Thanks how many watts do you use? I dont think 30 watts is enough heat but will try.

I have 4 setups each with different wattages. With my 10 gallons I use 30 watt bulbs, for my 29gal I use a mixture of 60 and 75 watt bulbs, and for my 65gal cage I use 75 watt bulbs. Over the 29gal I have the lights hanging from the ceiling but all the other setups have the lights on top of the screen. The temperature in my house varies from 69-76F depending on time of day and who last set the thermostat. I use rheostats to turn down the intensities of the bulbs when it gets warmer in the house.

well my goldens are in a 50 gal hex and i have a live plant at the bottom and i mist 3 times a day. i also let the light stay on the top of the screen, it is a 100 watt. it keeps the temps perfect because its so deep, the top is the basking,90degrese, middle is 85 and bottom is 80. they like it pretty good. there humidity needs to be 60-80%. i strongly recomend goldens, they are relatively shy until you get them tame and handle them. dont be discuraged if they bite you, they dont bite that hard. lol compared to tokays.
