A decent pair of tricolor double het ghost. . .and one or two possible double het ghost females should get you on your way to a nice project.

Good luck,
Ian Daviss

That must've been onehelluva clutch. One of the 2 females I hope breeds this year is shedding for the first time since brumation as I type. The other is also extremly opaque and could peel any minute. Still have a while before the male will be introduced but it's cool to see things moving right along. Tom Stevens

The female that produced these hatchlings should shed anyday now; also her first shed out of brumation. She is slamming her rats and continuing to put the weight back on. She was 1250+ grams last year before her first clutch, but only a slight bit over 1000 grams now. She should be able to get back up to around 1300 grams before she lays. . .time will tell. I have another female from my ghost project that is about 900 grams, she should have bred last season but the male couldn't talk her into it(it was the first year for both of them.) I'll give him one more chance with her this season. If that doesn't work my amelanistic het hypoerythristic male should be ready to go this year, but no females from that project are ready. I'll give him a try at her. Okay sorry for the rambling(getting excited about this years hatchlings!!!!)

Peace,
Ian Daviss

Very cool. I only have 1.2 for this year but have another 2.3 coming up for 06. Basically most of the morphs are on the menu. Tangerine Albino, Anery, Hypo, Ghost, Snow, and the possibility of Hybino. I love these snakes, but for now 8 seems like a great group, in other words I probably want get any more. The only bummer is my young males are growing way faster than the females. Tom Stevens

This year I only have 2.2 hondos ready for breeding but '06 should be exciting. '07 will definatly be a blast(if it ever comes):D I have a colony of 17 hondos, but want to add a couple more projects in there this year and next(including the extreme hypomelanistics, genetic abberancies (sp?), and hopefully something new!!

Also, I really like the Pyros, but I am nervous about working with such small hatchlings.

Ian Daviss

Nothing better about a tricolor than a tangerine, but IMO tricolors provide more contrast on a hypomelanistic animal. You could always try for a mixture of tangerines and tricolors in a project (I have both tricolor and tangerines in different projects for more than one reason.) The price for 1.2 double het ghost hondos will vary between time of year, the breeder, and possibly what has been produced in their background. By background, I mean that it could depend on what their parents/grandparents have produced in the past or siblings in the clutch.

Good luck,
Ian Daviss

P.S. Sorry for the old pics. . .I still haven't updated many after hibernation.

You shouldn't have too much of a problem finding atleast 1.2 double het ghost for $500. IMO tricolor dlb het ghosts are worth more than tangerines dbl het ghosts. The reason I believe this is because, tricolor hypomelanistics are a little more pricy than tangerine hypomelanistics of the same quality. Remember the ghost project is only one of the projects available to the consumer. . .I am just a little swayed by the beauty of hypomelanistic animals of most speices.

One thing to think of no matter which way you go is that the male is the most important. What I mean by that is in your example you have one male and three females. So you are counting on that one male for quite alot. I would suggest that you spend a few extra bucks on the group you are thinking about and buy a male that is het for the secondary trait you are looking at. I believe hypo in your example. Also a second thought is to buy your females this year and the male next year. I suggest this to new breeders for the simple fact that your male won't breed until your females are ready(IN their third year and his second). Worse case situation is the male is not ready until his third year and then your females are going to be ready for sure. What this avoids is the chance for egg binding by allowing the females to put on size while you wait for the male. Just a thought.
Thanks Jason

I believe you asked about Mike Falcon before. If that was you did he ever contact you? And if so did he have anything left?? I ask about Mike because he is one of the most reasonable guys in the trade as far as priceing. He may be able to work something out with you in your price range and get you going on the Ghost project with a really good blood line. I am not going to produce anything in that area of the ghost myself so I cannot give you priceing. I should have Hypos, albinos, het snows, het albino, tangerines, het hypo, poss hybino and maybe something else but I don't think I will have anything for ghost.
Thanks Jason
