Morbidly obese female- any ideas?

genevieve Apr 01, 2005 12:52 PM

This is one of my females. She has been this fat for over a year now. She was known to be laying when I got her, and has been in with a male since then (1.5 years ago). I can't tell if she is actually laying or not as there are other females in the enclosure. I don't think she is egg bound or she would be dead by now. Her abdomen does feel firm. All the other geckos in the tank are on the same diet (CGD) and have excellent body condition. Any ideas? I plan on taking her in to school with me (Cornell University Veterinary College) to have the exotics department look at her this week, but I was just wondering if anyone has any suggestions I can take to them as they aren't all that familiar with Rhacodactylids.

Thanks!
Genevieve

i have a female that is plump too, but not that big, maybe she is just a really good eater?

if you're worried i would definitely have the vet dept. check her out just to be safe.
