Cage Lighting

bradp_100 Apr 01, 2005 02:35 PM

I have a baby green anaconda that is approaching 8 months and I was wondering what lights you guys use most. I used to use a blue day lamp but switched to a red light after he seemed nervous. I know that anacondas are shy and solitary creatures but was wondering if certain lighting conditions are more beneficial to their health and attitude. He also sits around in his water bowl a lot and although he has not gotten any blisters, I was wondering if there was a better solution to letting him soak in it all of the time.

What size of cage is he/she in? How big is he/she? What wattage of bulb are you using? What type of bulb are you using? Make sure to regulate day and night cycles. If you are using a day bulb 24/7, then your snake will get stressed out, even if there are hides, there should still be a regulated day and night cycle. If this is not the case, then more details are needed Hope this helps though!
