repcal and mealies

denise1 Apr 01, 2005 06:32 PM

I've been feeding my four month old crickets, veggies and fruit since I got him...I've run out of crickets and can't get any till next week, so I bought him repcal juvenile bearded dragon food...I also purchased some mini mealies...I've tried and he does eat them...I thought I could try putting some in with the beardie food to attract his attention...how many is the maximum that you should feed a beardie??? I'm worried about his eating since he recently was moved to his new set up and the stress caused him to stop eating for a few days...

Hi
mealworms you need to feed careful .
they have a hard sceleton and r hard to digest.
it can cause impaction if they eat to much r when the baskingspot is to low.
110 for baskingspot is needed to digest good.
i not even give them to my adutls.
you can better feed them morioworms instead if the beardie is juvenile.

Yeah, I'd definatly be cautious about how many and how ofetn you're feeding him/her the mealies, no need to cram the lizard full of mealies if it'll still eat greens. It can live perfectly fine for a week eatign jsut veggies. And if you can get it eating repcal pellets, that's even better! Ton's of vitamins and minerals your BD needs in them. Just make sure they aren't too big for your BD to swallow (forgot how big u said yours was), but if they seem a little big, i'd just lightly break them up until they look small enough for them.

well he hasn't really touched the bearded dragon food...it's not repcal, it's actually t-rex juvenile bearded dragon food...I've left it available to him at all times, giving fresh of course...he's only slightly been nibbling at fruit and veggies...sometimes when I feed veggie by hand and he doesn't eat it all by hand, I'll place the remainder on his rock and he'll finish it right then...being desperate for him to eat the dragon foo, I placed three pieces on his rock, he ate two...never ate the third which I cleaned out and has not touched the dragon food in his bowl...I don't know what to do...I won't have crickets till teusday...
