Stephen,
Having just gotten into the scrub world I may not be the best here to reply to your message, but since no one else was I thought I'd give it a go anyway. Barneck scrubs are on the upper end up the scrub size scale. Adults can reportedly easily reach lengths of 15'. I just recently got a 9.5' southern, and barnecks get larger than southerns (which top out around 13 to 14'). Check the kingsnake classifieds for a shot of Cen FL Reptile Breeders big female southern. She's around 13' I think. Also, with this genus, supposedly the males tend to get larger than the females. I find this odd, because in the vast majority of the rest of the snake worl, it is exactly the opposite. As far as price goes, expect to pay anywhere from $150 to $300 ea, depending in if they are truly cbb instead of ch, who they come from, coloration, etc. Currently Ben Seigal has some nice reddish barnecks for $200 ea, but his are most likely wc or ch at best. I've heard some pretty bad stories of trying to get wc, especially baby scrubs, to eat, so your best bet as always is to just go with c.b.b., especially since they are now being bred by a few in the hobby. Hope this could help.

Chance covered much of the details. I have only a couple of details to add.
Barnecks are capable of reaching 15 feet perhaps even more, maybe 18 feet. But so far, the largest I have heard of that was documented with a tape measure was almost 16 feet. Our adult at 7-10 years of age are all between 12-13 feet. Southerns can get just as long (documented to 16 feet, but average 12-13, just like Barnecks) but they tend to not have quite the girth of a Barneck. If you were to feed one lots of food, perhaps you could raise a monster specimen but it probably will make a poor breeder. Although scrubs are capable of growing amazingly fast, they are not really cut out for it and ultimately it can lead to a much shortened life span and poor breedig potential. Some of our adult females get 15-17 meals a year if they are lucky. Males are fed perhaps 10-12 times a year. Juvies-subadults (between 4-7 feet), depending on actual length, should be fed every 10-14 days. No real rules here...just don't overdo it for long stretches.
CB specimens can make a world of a difference in quality and looks. If you want a nice colorful Barneck with lots of golden green and dark black bars, then don't bother buying most WC specimens these days. The ones imported for the last couple of years are from the east side of Sorong and they tend to be less contrasting and lack defined bars. They also don't have the bright golden green background colors. Some individuals from this area (Manakwari, if you wish to whip out a map) can be gorgeous in their own right, with some being nearly patternless with only the head bars and indistinct tail markings.
WC scrubs can be hard to acclimate...yes.
But juvies are probably the easiest to get going. Subadult and adult specimens can be very difficult to get feeding and to handle.
Whatever the case, just have some patience and wait for CB babies with money in hand and snag one as soon as the opportunity arises. Just be careful! They are addicting!
If you would like more info on scrubs, take a look at our site below. It may answer more of your questions. Plenty of pics too.
BTW, the pic posted here is of a Barneck juvie we hatched last year. We have babies this year too but they won't be going anywhere for at least the next few months, probably longer.
